How to See the Rating Your Student Left After the Language Lesson
How language teachers view the star rating and comment their student left after a lesson, spot patterns across sessions, and use that insight to improve.
You finish the class, say goodbye to your student, and leave without knowing how they felt. Was the pace too fast? Was the vocabulary too easy, or too hard? Not enough speaking practice? Without a channel for that feedback, you find out weeks later, when the student asks for a break or simply disappears.
Post-class ratings exist to close that gap. When students can leave a star rating and a comment right after the session, while the experience is still fresh, you have concrete data to adjust the next class before a small dissatisfaction turns into drop-off.
Why teachers don't get this feedback today
Asking for feedback on WhatsApp is awkward. Students rarely give honest answers when the message goes directly to the teacher they don't want to offend. Most reply "it was great" and say nothing about what bothered them.
External forms, like Google Forms sent by email, create friction. The student has to open another app, click the link, fill it out, and submit. Response rates tend to be low, especially for students on mobile.
On top of that, the responses end up scattered. Each class generates a different form, and comparing a student's feedback over time becomes manual work that no one has the patience to do.
How most teachers handle it today
The most common alternative is an informal chat at the end of class. The teacher asks "so, how did it go?" and the student gives a vague answer. That's not data, that's conversation.
Some teachers use spreadsheets where they record their own impression of the class, with no input from the student's perspective. Others ignore the issue entirely and only discover the dissatisfaction when the student cancels.
Marketplace platforms like Preply and Cambly have built-in ratings, but the teacher doesn't control the process, doesn't choose the format, and often sees only a general average, without the comment that explains the rating.
What a post-class feedback system needs to have
To be truly useful, feedback needs to appear in the right place, at the right time, with no extra effort from the teacher. It needs to be simple enough for the student to respond on impulse, right after class, and specific enough to generate real learning.
It also needs to be tied to a specific class, not a generic experience. Knowing the student gave four stars last month doesn't help at all. Knowing they gave three stars in Thursday's class, the one focused on grammar, is actionable data.
And the teacher needs to access it in the same place where they review the class content, next to the transcription and improvement suggestions, so the student's feedback makes sense in the context of what actually happened.
How Noladi solves it
In Noladi, right after the class ends, the student finds in the review area the option to rate the session with one to five stars and an optional comment. There is no external link, no separate form. It is inside the review screen itself, where the student already goes to watch the replay and study the transcription.
The teacher, when accessing the post-class review of the same class, sees the rating and comment the student left. If the class had multiple students, you can select each one and view their individual feedback. The review is stored alongside the full class content: the video, the speaker-by-speaker transcription, the automatically generated correction suggestions, and the student's speaking stats.
This means that when you read "could have introduced more new vocabulary," you can click on the player, rewatch that part of the class, and understand exactly the context that created that impression. The student's feedback and the class content are in the same place, and the teacher doesn't have to piece things together from different sources.
